My organic cotton wedding dress which I designed and hand knit.

Here is an alpaca sweater
I designed and hand knit.

Welcome to my "secret" fashion page!
Secret because unless you were not interested in my fashion statement you wouldn't have found it!
I love to knit, crochet, felt and create!
I am very much into the environment and 3 R living - that is Reduce, Recycle, Reuse!
Hence, I like to recycle clothes too!
When my clothes or even Nick's clothes become worn out, out of fashion or were just born ugly...
...
I "refashion" them into something new...

I saved this cashmere turtleneck from becoming a pajama
... by unsewing the neck and applying sequins all over!
...
Also, that's me in a very nice chair!

Couldn't sell these wool pants...dated style...
...now my black armadillo vest with 2 way zipper

I couldn't sell these wool pants either...I liked my black armadillo so much...
...I made a brown armadillo

This was Nick's acrylic sweater. It was big and big is often the best to work with. I usually don't like or work with synthetics but I used it anyway and it turned out really nice.

photo of Catherine Taormina in green shirt with design of trees on it

When you don't like to wear a bra, but don't want to "announce" anything else...paint is always good. I really like the job I did with the trees. Too bad these ribbed t-shirts wear out so quickly.

photo of Catherine Taormina in Rockstar shirt

I used the same concept as my green tree shirt for this Rockstar shirt
- cuz I am a Rockstar.

photo of Catherine Taormina in grey disco sweater

As with the salmon chasmere top to the left,
I took down the turtleneck here and added sequins all over!
...From a faded bland cotton sweater
(cotton sweaters make no sense to me)
...to a pizzazled disco dancin' everything!

Designed and knit by me, Catherine Taormina, wool. My second knit project ever...some changes had to be made...never easy...

Who can toss cashmere? Who really wants to make it a pajama even though it wants to be one. Have you ever tried ironing a sweater? To get out those wrinkles, a steamer is the only thing that works fast and easy. I cut off the bottom ribbing and used it to refashion the neckline. I also worked with the wrinkle tendancy and put some texture twists in it. Nice, huh?

We all love sweatshrits! But we hate looking like blobs! I'm proud to say that I invented this - or I knew of no one that did it before I did - I've already inspired others to take the knife to their beloved sweatshirts - most in gorgeous colors - and personalize them! The designs are endless and the idea is to go with the flow!

ok, this is something that had already become a pajama, and yeah, it should have remained a pajama as I dyed it and the dye didn't take very well, but I couldn't resist refashioning this cashmere during one of my sewing binges. Still, I think I worked some degree of magic here.

Wool felted hat I designed and hand felted

photo of Catherine Taormina hand knit upcycled hat scarf

This is my Harf. It is a hat and scarf attached all in one. It is upcycled from a cashmere sweater and a mohair hat. This is very warm as it cover ears, head, forehead neck and chest.
